Bespoke Cheongsam in Handwoven Dupion

As Chinese New Year approaches, I thought I'd share a favourite tailor-made cheongsam of mine.
It's a unique blend of the cheongsam style with an iridescent handwoven Indian dupion silk fabric. To create this outfit, 2.5 metres (44" width) silk dupion was used.
This special cheongsam features hand-knotted pankou buttons and black piping to contrast the light-coloured fabric. It has a back slit as opposed to the traditional side slits of a cheongsam. Image below courtesy of Chic N Sleek.

What makes dupion silk such a great fabric for form-fitting styles, is its ability to hold its shape well without being clingy. It provides structure to the garment, with a gorgeous sheen and always looks regal.
