Get Inspired: Bespoke Cheongsam in Handwoven Dupion

As Chinese New Year approaches, I thought I'd share a favourite tailor-made cheongsam of mine.

It's a unique blend of the cheongsam style with an iridescent handwoven Indian dupion silk fabric.

This special cheongsam features hand-knotted pankou buttons and black piping to contrast the light-coloured fabric. It has a back slit as opposed to the traditional side slits of a cheongsam.

What makes dupion silk such a great fabric for form-fitting styles, is its ability to hold its shape well without being clingy. It provides structure to the garment, with a gorgeous sheen and always looks regal.
